About

Our Lancaster Physiotherapy clinic is based on the main A6 into the city not far from the Hospital and on the main route to and from the university. There is plenty of parking in front of the clinic and in surrounding roads, and there is disabled access into the ground floor reception and treatment rooms.

Our physiotherapists in Lancaster have extensive experience working in private practice and are HCPC registered and chartered. We are registered with all major medical insurers including AXA Health and Bupa.

We have early morning, and evening appointments, and both male and female therapists, so everyone can access the help they need.

I booked a deep tissue massage due to ongoing lower back pain but unfortunately don’t feel that I will return to this clinic. I’ve had many deep tissue massages before and understand that techniques vary, but in this case, the pressure was far too light and felt more like gentle strokes than a deep tissue treatment. I did ask for firmer pressure during the session, but it made little difference, and I didn’t want to keep repeating myself and make the masseuse uncomfortable. Before starting, I explained that my pain was in the lumbar/sacral region near the tailbone. However, the massage only covered a small area of my mid-back and never reached the area I had identified as the source of the pain. I did also try to voice this during the massage and asked if she could go slightly lower, but instead, she suggested massaging my glutes over the towel. The lower vertebrae were missed. My upper back was also never touched, despite the physiotherapist saying at the end “maybe your pain is coming from your upper back”. It didn’t really seem like she knew. Booking in for an hour I expected a full comprehensive back massage and at least a short examination, but my jumper was just tucked into my bra band and it never went above that. The physiotherapist was nice but it’s difficult to tell somebody if you don’t feel satisfied, so I had hoped to maybe voice this to the person at reception but instead I was just simply taken to pay and immediately asked when I’d like to book my next appointment. I wasn’t asked how I found the session. Overall, I feel that my expectations were reasonable, but the experience was subpar. I get the vibe that this place is just missing individual attention and care, it feels more like getting clients through quickly and making profit.

Very helpful staff. I had booked a package of eight massage sessions to try to relieve my neck, shoulder and lower back pain. Both Lottie and Lucy were very helpful, and I have much more movement now. I have moved on to "maintenance" sessions every month. Thank you.

True Physio really helped reduce the pain in my ankle and the exercises definitely helped. I now feel less pain and feel more comfortable playing football. Ruairi was really helpful and friendly which made the sessions enjoyable.

After a few complicated hip revision operations I went to see Ruairi at True Physio. After the initial assessment I had 6 sessions of physio. He was outstanding and has truly improved the quality of my life. As well as being an outstanding physiotherapist, he was very personable and totally professional. Top notch! He even sorted my back pain out. Thank you!
